ASHLEY LAROSA (EMD Company Member) is a Bay Area native from Albany, CA where she began dancing at the age of four. After discovering her passion for dance, she began training at City Ballet School of San Francisco under the direction of Galina Alexandrova. Ashley graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2015 receiving a BFA in Dance Performance. At UCI, she
choreographed and produced a 30-minute concert and performed works by Donald McKayle, Molly Lynch, Tong Wang, Idan Cohen and many others. UCI also gave Ashley the opportunity to train and receive a certification in Pilates from Diane Diefenderfer. In addition, Ashley trained with San Francisco Ballet, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Ashley began an
apprenticeship with Elisa Monte Dance in 2016 and is very excited to begin the 2018-2019 season as a company member!
DaMond LeMonte Garner
DaMond LeMonte Garner, from Charlotte, North Carolina, attended Northwest School of the Arts where is studied orchestra, musical theater, and dance. This led him to Point Park University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance under the direction of Garfield Lemonius. While at Point Park, DaMond was blessed to perform works by renowned choreographers including Alexandra Damiani, Sidra Bell, Lucinda Childs, Lar Lubovitch, Jessica Hendricks, and Anthony Tudor alongside the Conservatory Dance Company. Mr. Garner also extended his training at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Northwest Dance Project’s LAUNCH and the Movement Invention Project. He has worked as a guest artist with The Francesca Harper Project, The Black Iris Project, Texture Contemporary Ballet, and The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. While working as a company member with METdance in Houston TX, DaMond performed works by Kyle Abraham, Christian Denice, and Kate Skarpetowska. As an emerging artist, DaMond works to be an advocate for all art forms, both in and out of creative spaces. Mr. Garner is excited to be joining Elisa Monte Dance Company this season.
DANIELA FUNICELLO(EMD Company Member) is originally from Laurel Springs, New Jersey where she began her dance training. She furthered her education and training at The Southern New Jersey Academy of the Performing Arts at GCIT. In 2016 Daniela graduated with a BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College. During her time in the program she had the opportunity to be a member of the Dance Company and perform the works of Paul Taylor, Aszure Barton, Pedro Ruiz, Emery LeCrone, Alexandra Damiani, and Adam Baruch. In 2016 Daniela joined Elisa Monte Dance as an apprentice. She has performed at numerous venues including the Apollo Theater, Joe’s Pub, New York City Center, Baby’s Alright with singer Janelle Kroll, The National Gallery of Art in D.C., and The Red Bull Arena. Most recently Daniela premiered “Spirit Celestial” a solo work choreographed by Tiffany Rea-Fisher. She has also performed with the Classical Theater of Harlem in “Antigone” (Ensemble/Singing Chorus) “A Christmas Carol in Harlem” (Ensemble/Mrs.Fezz) and “The Bacchae” (Dancing Ensemble). Daniela is currently on faculty with the Police Athletic League of NY and The Lake Placid School of Dance. This is Daniela’s third season with EMD as a company member.
Jenny Hegarty Freeman
Jenny Hegarty Freeman's early dance training began in Red Bank, NJ, and then continued at the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble and the Harness Youth Ballet, both under the direction of Nancy Turano. She received a BFA in Dance Performance from Marymount Manhattan College and has had the opportunity of working with and performing in works by David Parsons, Stephen Petronio, Robert Battle, Johannes Wieland, Eduardo Vilaro, Jason McDole and Kyle Amhed-Bukhari, along with being selected to perform at the Metropolitan Opera House in the Kirov Ballet's production of Sleeping Beauty. Jenny has worked with multiple companies throughout the country including Dance Now Miami (Senior Company Member and Rehearsal Director), DeXdance, Gehring Dance Theatre, Florida Grand Ballet and RIOULT (apprentice). Some of her favorite theater credits include The Haunted Ballet, Chicago, On the Town, Cabaret, Flashdance (Dance Captain), Saturday Night Fever (Asst. Dance Captain), La Cage Aux Folles (Asst. Choreographer).
Jenny is currently the Associate Director of TAME Dance Academy, on modern faculty at Interlochen Summer Arts Program, on staff at VIP Dance Competition, and works as a repetiteur for multiple choreographers, including Daniel Lewis (Limón Dance Company / Daniel Lewis Dance Repertory Company) and Hannah Baumgarten / Diego Salterini (Dance Now Miami). Previously, Jenny was a rehearsal assistant at the Joffrey Ballet School's Contemporary Program in LA and also worked as a dance facilitator among clients with varying levels of communicative and physical ability within the Arts Access program at the Matheny School and Hospital in Peapack, NJ. She is very excited and honored to join EMD this season.
Kat Files is a Birmingham, Alabama native where she began formal training at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA). She is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program in Dance, where she was a 4 year Glorya Kaufman Foundation Dance Scholar. As an Ailey/Fordham student, Kat had the privilege of performing Alvin Ailey's “Memoria” during Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's New York City Center Season. During her time in the Ailey/Fordham Program, Kat performed works by many renowned choreographers.
Recently, Kat became a company member of Elisa Monte Dance (EMD) after performing with EMD in their partnership with Classical Theatre of Harlem’s production of Euripides’ “The Bacchae.” Upon graduation, she has performed with Felice Lesser Dance Theater, Matheta Dance, Germaul Barnes/Viewsic Dance, and Sidra Bell. Kat has had the opportunity to dance for The Late Show with Steven Colbert, Baton Rouge, Louisiana's “Resiliency Summit” alongside actor, Lamman Rucker, and the National Action Network Convention to name a few. In 2018, Kat was honored to return to her alma mater, ASFA, where she performed as a soloist on the Dance Department’s Fall Repertory program, in a work commissioned by the Doctoral of Musical Arts program at the University of Southern California. Kat performed the above-mentioned work, choreographed by Germaul Barnes, at USC in the D.M.A. recital for her brother, Royce Files.
Kat is the Founder and Executive Director of The F.I.L.E.S. (Future Inspired Leaders Exemplifying Success) Arts Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization. The organization was born out of her desire to provide training in dance techniques, music instruction and performance opportunities to underserved communities. Alongside dancing and teaching, Kat enjoys modeling and acting as well. As a performing artist, she has earned her SAG-AFTRA and Equity memberships. Kat is grateful and thrilled to begin her first season with Elisa Monte Dance!
SAI RODBOON (EMD Company Member) Sai (Napat) Rodboon is originally from Bangkok, Thailand. She began her dance training at Aree School of Dance Arts and has a BA, major in Dramatic Arts from Chulalongkorn University. She recently graduated from the scholarship program at The Ailey School. Sai has performed works by Matthew Powell, Danielle Polanco, Tiffany Rea-Fisher, Patrice Leroy, including Alvin Ailey’s “Memoria” with The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 2017. She recently performed with Classical Theater of Harlem’s revival of Antigone. Sai is now a company member of Elisa Monte Dance and has started her first year with the company.
Tracy Dunbar, originally from Hazlet, New Jersey, began his dance training at the age of 16. In 2014 he graduated with honors, magna cum laude, from Montclair State University with a BFA in Dance Performance. During his time there he had the opportunity to perform works by several world renowned choreographers: Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Larry Keigwin, Donald McKayle, & Frederick Earl Mosley, to name a few.
He has gone on to dance professionally with several companies including Nimbus DanceWorks, Battery Dance, Bare Dance Company, The VonHoward Project, NOW Dance Project, and more! Tracy joined Elisa Monte Dance in the summer of 2018 and is so excited to be entering his 2nd season with the company.
