On May 10, 1994 Nelson Mandela becomes South Africa's first black president; May 10, 1869 the first US coast to coast railroad is completed; and in 2016, May 10th became national Trust Your Intuition Day! So trust your intuition and join us at the National Gallery of Art to celebrate rhythm in all of its forms. Highlights include live performances by Chris Brubeck’s Band Triple Play, internationally acclaimed NYC-based modern dance company Elisa Monte Dance and local dancers from Joy of Motion Center.
Triple Play and Elisa Monte Dance (EMD) have been performing together the past year to bring new exciting experiences to audiences around the US. Tiffany Rea-Fisher, EMD’s new Artistic Director, was described in Bloomberg News as “a vehicle for radical community service” which is why there was no way she could envision this night without local talent as part of the process. The National Gallery of Art, Triple Play, Elisa Monte Dance, and Joy of Motion are the perfect combination for an unforgettable night of art and culture.
